L. Penelope, a Baltimore-based SELF-e Ambassador and winner of the 2016 BCALA Self-Publishing Ebook Award for Fiction, will present at this year’s Balticon. This four-day Maryland Regional Science Fiction and Fantasy Convention features science fiction and fantasy topics presented in literature, film, art and music presentations; discussion panels and workshops. Penelope’s own presentation on May 28, Online Retailers, Libraries and Beyond: Finding Your Readers in the Wild, will include information for self-publishers related to distribution options, including how to get ebooks into libraries.

In June, the 2016 BCALA Self-Published Book Award will be presented to Penelope during this year’s annual conference of the American Library Association (ALA) in Orlando, Florida. The award, which underlines the importance of diverse voices in literature, is also the first from an ALA affiliate to recognize literary excellence in self-published, digital content.

Penelope’s involvement at Balticon is a testament to SELF-e’s role in connecting indie authors with local readers and libraries, as well as helping authors achieve literary success. Learn more, and enter to win the Library Journal 2016 Indie Ebook Award.
